Reddit Marketing & AI Visibility for Crypto Brands

Verticality runs Reddit marketing and AI visibility for crypto brands: exchanges, wallets, off-ramps and DeFi protocols. We answer the questions crypto buyers ask in r/Bitcoin, r/CryptoCurrency and r/CryptoMarkets within each community’s rules, with no referral links, no shilling and no bought votes, and we track every day what ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity answer when your buyers ask which service to use. In our check of 59 crypto cash-out keywords, a Reddit thread was on Google’s first page for 27% of them, and half of the AI Overviews that listed sources cited Reddit.

Why crypto buyers check Reddit and AI before they sign up

A crypto transfer cannot be called back, so buyers check before they choose an exchange, a wallet or a way to cash out. They search the service with “legit”, “review” or “fees”, read what other holders say, and more and more often ask an AI assistant to choose for them. Google answers most of these searches with an AI Overview, and Reddit is one of the sources it reads.

  1. 01 · Learn

“How do I cash out crypto to my bank account?”

Reddit threads, YouTube walkthroughs and the help centres of the large on-ramps.

  2. 02 · Shortlist

“What is the best crypto off-ramp?” · “Best way to sell crypto”

An AI Overview that names three to five services, and Reddit threads where holders compare fees and limits.

  3. 03 · Check

    “Is this exchange legit?”

Review sites and trust-score aggregators, and the Reddit thread that calls the service a scam, if there is one. AI assistants read all of them.

The crypto subreddits that matter, and their promotion rules

Twelve communities where crypto buyers ask which service to use. The rules column quotes each subreddit’s own rules page; the moderation column is our reading of how strictly promotion is removed.

What works in crypto subreddits

01

Answers with numbers

The fee, the limit, the time a transfer takes, which networks are supported. A reply that shows what cashing out $5,000 actually costs gets upvoted; a link does not.

02

Questions people already ask

Our client’s threads that reached Google’s top three were titled as questions holders ask: “What actually happens when you need to turn crypto into cash?”

03

Honest comparisons

A thread that lists the options, competitors included, and says when each one fits. A one-sided recommendation reads as an advert, and r/BitcoinBeginners bans “disguising an advert as a question” in so many words.

04

Disclosure where the rules ask for it

r/Monero and r/BitcoinMarkets require disclosing an affiliation. We disclose every time; undisclosed promotion is what moderators remove first.

Compliance notes for crypto promotion

Compliance notes for crypto promotion
United States Under the FTC Endorsement Guides, a post or comment made for a brand discloses that connection. We do not post unlabelled endorsements.
United Kingdom Since 8 October 2023, crypto promotions to UK consumers fall under the FCA financial promotions regime. Anything that could invite a UK reader to buy a cryptoasset goes to your compliance team before it is posted.
European Union MiCA requires crypto-asset marketing communications to be clearly identifiable as marketing, and fair, clear and not misleading. Brand-run threads are labelled as such.
Every market No return or price claims, no investment advice, no “guaranteed” or “risk-free”. Your team approves every text before it goes live; we are not your lawyers.

AI visibility for crypto brands

ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity now answer “which exchange” and “best way to cash out” directly. For the 59 crypto keywords above, Google showed an AI Overview 58 times, and the sources it listed came from a short list of places. Being one of them is the work.

The “is it legit” answer is where crypto brands lose most. When a buyer asks an assistant about a named service, it reads review sites and trust-score aggregators. In an audit we ran for a crypto client, ChatGPT and Perplexity both hedged on the brand because they quoted a low trust score. The fix is part of the programme: a calm official reply in the thread that raises the doubt, a fuller company page, and reviews on the platforms the engines read. For your brand we track 50–200 of your buyers’ questions every day, with a baseline report by day 10.

The first 90 days for a crypto brand

  1. Month 1

    Map and baseline

The subreddits and ranking threads for your buying keywords, a rules sheet per community (promotion, disclosure, account thresholds), your buyer questions in the tracker, a baseline report by day 10 and a ranked plan by day 15. The first answers go live 14–20 days after the start.

  2. Month 2

    Answer and post

Answers in the threads that rank or get cited, two a week and up, depending on the plan; first own threads in the communities whose rules allow them; official replies to the threads that question your service.

  3. Month 3

    Measure and move the budget

Google positions for every thread we touched, your mention rate in each AI engine, Reddit referral sessions. What does not move gets dropped; what works gets more threads.

Mistakes crypto brands make on Reddit

Posting referral links

r/CryptoCurrency answers them with a long-term or permanent ban; r/btc, r/ethereum, r/defi and r/ledgerwallet remove them outright.

Shilling a token where it is off-topic

r/Bitcoin removes altcoin promotion, and r/BitcoinBeginners bans promoting tokens and “disguising an advert as a question”.

Posting from a brand-new account

r/CryptoMarkets requires 20 comment karma and a 10-day-old account to comment, and 75 karma or a 10-day-old account to post.

Price talk in the wrong place

r/btc and r/ethereum keep price talk to a weekly or daily thread; r/btc allows no price posts outside it.

Ignoring the thread that calls you a scam

AI assistants read it and repeat it when buyers ask about you. A calm official answer with facts does more than silence.

Giving up after a sweep

In June 2026 a wave of enforcement against promotional links hit the large crypto subreddits, and our client’s placements with it. We restored them by rewriting each comment as an answer to the thread’s question; on re-check in July none had been removed.

Crypto Reddit and AI visibility FAQ

Is Reddit marketing allowed for crypto brands?

Yes, within each subreddit’s rules. Most large crypto subreddits ban referral links and coin promotion; some allow disclosed affiliation (r/Monero, r/BitcoinMarkets) or a capped share of promotional posts (r/defi, 10%). We read the rules of every community before the first post and re-read them every month.

Do you post referral or affiliate links?

No. r/CryptoCurrency answers referral links with a long-term or permanent ban, and most crypto subreddits remove them. We answer the question in the thread; buyers who want the service search for it, and that search is what we measure.

How do you handle disclosure and crypto promotion rules?

A post or comment made for your brand discloses the connection, as the FTC Endorsement Guides require in the US. Anything that could be a financial promotion to UK consumers goes to your compliance team first, and brand-run threads are labelled as marketing, as MiCA requires in the EU. Your team approves every text before it goes live.

Can you get our exchange recommended by ChatGPT?

No agency can guarantee it. We track your buyers’ questions in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity every day, find the sources each answer cites, and work on getting your brand into those sources. First signals usually show in 2–6 weeks.

How much does Reddit marketing for a crypto brand cost?

Reddit programmes from $1,900 to $5,000 a month, and AI visibility (GEO) programmes from $2,500 to $7,500 a month, month-to-month with no minimum term. Single posts and comments are also sold on their own, from $50 a comment, with a $1,500 minimum order a month.

How long until results?

The thread map and rules sheet arrive in week one and the first answers go live 14–20 days after the start. First signals take 2–6 weeks in AI answers and 4–8 weeks on Reddit; the work compounds by month 3–6.
