Reddit SEO Agency: Your Brand in the Reddit Threads That Rank on Google
The thread your buyers read before your website should get your product right.
Verticality is a Reddit SEO agency for B2B SaaS, DTC, fintech and local service brands. We map the Reddit threads that rank on Google for your buying keywords, add answers to the threads that matter, start the threads that are missing, and plan for the negative ones. Google's AI Overviews draw on the same search results, so the work shows up there too. In our data, a Reddit thread sat on Google's first page for 39% of 3,174 keywords across nine industries.
- Best for
- Brands whose buying keywords already show Reddit threads on Google's first page, most often B2B SaaS, DTC, fintech and local services.
- What you get
- A map of the Reddit threads ranking for up to 20 of your buying keywords, two answers a week in those threads, up to two new threads a month, a plan for negative threads and a monthly report.
- Price
- $1,900 a month, month-to-month, with no minimum term. Reddit SEO is also included in our Programme ($3,400) and Category ($5,000) Reddit plans.
- How we work
- We start from the threads Google already ranks for your keywords, answer the question each thread asks, start new threads only where none answers it, and re-check positions every month.
- Timeline
- The thread map in week 1 and the first answers live 14–20 days after the start; first signals in 4–8 weeks; new threads take months to rank, and not every one will.

What is Reddit SEO?
Reddit SEO is the work of getting your brand into the Reddit threads that rank on Google for your buying keywords, and of starting the threads that should rank but do not exist yet. Those threads sit on the same first page as your website, often above it, and buyers open them because they want an opinion from someone who is not selling.
The phrase is used for three different things. We sell the first one.
| Meaning | What it is | Our view |
|---|---|---|
| Your brand in the threads that rank | The Reddit threads on Google's first page for your buying keywords mention you, accurately. | The service on this page. |
| Reddit as a traffic or link source | Links from Reddit threads to your website. | A side effect. Count a Reddit link as referral traffic, not as link building. |
| Reddit as keyword research | The questions buyers ask on Reddit, used to plan your own pages. | Included: the thread map shows them. |
Whether Reddit SEO is worth paying for depends on one measurable thing: does Reddit show up for your keywords. Here is how often it does.
How often Reddit is on Google's first page: our data
We checked Google's first page for 3,174 keywords we researched for clients and prospects in nine industries, and the AI answers for the buyer questions we track every day for eight brands.
39%
of the keywords had a Reddit thread on Google's first page.
34% in the top five, 26% in the top three. Keywords with clear buying intent (424): 38%.
1 in 5
Google AI Overviews cited a Reddit thread.
20.0% of 2,472 AI Overviews on those results; 21.4% of 11,845 in the buyer questions we track.
1.3%
of ChatGPT answers cited Reddit in the same questions.
Perplexity: 5.1%. Answers that list sources, 22 September – 21 October 2026.
| Industry | Keywords | Reddit on page one | In the top three | AI Overviews citing Reddit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B2B SaaS (sales software) | 405 | 48% | 26% | 21% |
| Personal finance and financial advisors | 491 | 46% | 30% | 23% |
| Corporate events and travel | 2,168 | 34% | 24% | 18% |
| Home and garden ecommerce | 43 | 70% | 58% | 50% |
What it means
- Reddit is a page-one player in most categories, not only in tech: from about a third of keywords in corporate events to about half in finance and B2B software.
- Its weight in AI answers sits in Google. AI Overviews cite Reddit about one time in five; ChatGPT almost never does in these categories.
- The spread is wide, so check your own keywords before you buy anything (the ten-minute check below).
Method: Google US, English, desktop; one snapshot per keyword (DataForSEO), taken on 16 days between 22 September – 20 October 2026; snapshots that showed second-page results were removed. Industries with fewer than 30 keywords are not shown. AI answers: our tracker, 22 September – 21 October 2026, answers that list sources. Client names are not published.
If the threads came and went, the work would be wasted. They don't, and these are the reasons, each with its source.
Why Reddit threads rank on Google, and why they stay there
-
01
Google built a slot for them.
On 28 September 2022 Google added a "Discussions and forums" block to its results, to surface first-hand advice from forums. In the US, Reddit appears in 87.8% of those blocks.

02
Google pays for the feed.
On 22 February 2024 Google and Reddit expanded their partnership: Google gets real-time, structured access to Reddit's content through Reddit's Data API, for more Reddit content across Google's products. Neither company disclosed the price; Reuters reported about $60 million a year.

03
Old threads stay open.
Since 13 October 2021 a Reddit post older than six months can still take new comments and votes, unless its community switches archiving on. Reddit said at the time that 6.6 million people a day landed on archived posts.

AI Overviews read the same results.
Google says its AI features are "rooted in our core Search ranking and quality systems" and retrieve pages "from our Search index". In our own measurement, 42.4% of the URLs AI Overviews cited were in Google's top 10 for the same question.

What it means: a thread that ranks for a buying keyword today is a durable asset, for whoever is mentioned in it.
The first deliverable, shown on real Google results: the threads that rank, and what the AI Overview does with them.
What a thread map looks like
| Keyword (Google US) | Reddit thread on page one | Position | Posted | Comments | AI Overview |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| "corporate event planning packages prices"2 Oct 2026 | Event Service Pricingr/EventProduction | #1 | October 2023 | 18 | Cites this thread first |
| "corporate event planner cost"2 Oct 2026 | Event Service Pricing (the same thread)r/EventProduction | #2 | October 2023 | 18 | Cites other sources |
| "best president's club trips"24 Sep 2026 | Where was the best president's club trip you ever went on?r/sales | #1 | December 2024 | 124 | Cites this thread first |
What it shows
- Small, old threads rank. A 2023 thread with 18 comments ranks first and second for two price searches, and Google's AI Overview cites it first on one of them.
- It can still be answered. The thread took new comments 18 months after it was posted.
- Nobody in it sells. Buyers searching for prices read planners' rules of thumb; no company explains what a corporate events package includes. That gap is the work.
Keywords from research we ran in September and October 2026. Positions and AI Overview sources: DataForSEO snapshots of Google US desktop results on the dates shown; thread details from Reddit, checked 22 October 2026.
Most agencies never say when it is not worth it. Ten minutes and a logged-out browser answer it.
Is Reddit SEO worth it for you? A ten-minute check
- 1
Search your ten most valuable buying keywords on Google, logged out, in the country you sell to.
- 2
Count the keywords with a Reddit thread in the top 10 or in a "Discussions and forums" block.
- 3
Open each thread: when it was posted, whether it still takes comments, and whether you or a competitor are named.
- 4
Ask the same questions as full sentences in Google, and note which threads the AI Overview cites.
What the count tells you
- Three or more of ten show Reddit
- Reddit SEO is worth a test.
- One or two
- Fix those threads inside a wider Reddit or SEO programme; a standalone retainer is too much.
- None
- Spend the money on your own pages. Reddit is not where your buyers decide.
Our rule of thumb, not a published benchmark.
Everything in the monthly fee, with the counts, so you can compare it with any other proposal.

The monthly report
The threads ranking for your keywords and their positions, a link to every answer and thread we published, where you are mentioned and how, which threads Google's AI Overview cites for each keyword, and Reddit referral sessions in your analytics.
What happens when, so you know what to look for in each month's report.
How Reddit SEO runs, week by week
| When | What happens | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Keyword list agreed; the first thread map; the first answers sent to you for approval. | Which threads rank for your keywords, and what they say. |
| Weeks 2–3 | First answers live in the threads that already rank, 14–20 days after the start. | Your answer inside a page-one thread. |
| Weeks 3–8 | Two answers a week; the first new threads where none answers the question; the negative-thread plan. | Answers that stay up; new threads indexed. |
| Weeks 4–8 | First signals. | Mentions in more page-one threads; AI Overviews citing threads that mention you. |
| Month 3 onward | New threads that rank join the map; the map is rebuilt every month. | A growing share of page-one threads that mention you. |
New threads take weeks to months to reach the first page, and some never do. That is why the work starts with the threads that already rank.
The most common reason brands ask about Reddit SEO: a negative thread ranks for their name. Here is what can and cannot be done.
What we do about negative Reddit threads
A negative thread that ranks for your brand cannot be bought off Google, and nobody can promise to remove it. For each one we write a plan:
- What is true. If the complaint is right, the fix is on your side, and the thread is how you will hear about it next time.
- What is out of date. Old prices, old features, a problem fixed two years ago: the thread needs a current answer.
- Where a better answer belongs. In that thread, if it is still open, or in a newer thread that answers the question better.
- What breaks the rules. Personal attacks and false claims can be reported to the community's moderators or to Reddit.
Then we track the thread's position, and what the AI Overview for your brand says, every month.
One price, what it covers, and when a bigger plan makes more sense.

How Reddit SEO results are measured
- Thread positions. The Google position of every thread on the map, checked every month in the country you sell to.
- Mentions inside page-one threads. How many of the threads ranking for your keywords mention you, and how.
- AI Overview citations. Which threads Google's AI Overview cites for each of your keywords. Daily tracking of ChatGPT and Perplexity answers is part of our Programme plan.
- Referral sessions. Visits from reddit.com in your analytics, and what those visitors do next.
We do not report upvotes or comment counts as results.
A question SEO teams keep asking: Reddit threads beat our pages. The answer is to stop fighting the thread.
Reddit threads outrank your website. What now?
-
01
Read the intent.
Google shows a forum when the searcher wants opinions: 98.7% of "Discussions and forums" appearances are on informational queries (Ahrefs, 27 Aug 2026). Your product page will not win that query by being longer.
-
02
Get into the thread.
It already ranks, and unless its community archives old posts, it can still be answered.
-
03
Publish what the thread lacks.
If every thread asks for a comparison, a price or a real example, put that on your own page.
-
04
Start the thread that should exist.
Where buyers ask a question that no thread answers well.
-
05
Measure the page, not the position.
Track whether the page-one threads mention you, not whether your page passed Reddit.
Local searches show Reddit too, through city subreddits. The rules there are stricter.
Reddit SEO for local service businesses
People search "best [service] in [city] reddit", and Google answers with threads from city and regional subreddits. Those communities often ban self-promotion outright, so the work is narrower: find the recommendation threads that rank for your service and city, see who gets recommended and why, answer questions where the rules allow it, and make sure the details people repeat about you, such as prices, hours and areas served, are current everywhere they look.
Use these on every call, ours included.
Questions to ask a Reddit SEO agency before you sign
- Which Reddit threads rank for our keywords today? Ask to see the map before you sign.
- What counts as a result? Thread positions, mentions inside threads, AI citations. Upvotes are not a result.
- How many answers and new threads a month, and in which communities?
- What will you do about the negative threads, and do you promise removals? Nobody can.
- What do we keep if we stop? The keyword list, the thread maps, the reports.
- What does it cost, and is there a minimum term?

Reddit SEO agency FAQ
What is Reddit SEO?
Reddit SEO is getting your brand into the Reddit threads that rank on Google for your buying keywords, and starting the threads that should rank but do not exist yet. Those threads often sit above your own pages, and buyers read them before they decide.
What does a Reddit SEO agency do?
It finds the Reddit threads ranking for your buying keywords, answers in the ones that matter, starts the threads that are missing, plans for the negative ones and reports positions every month. Ours covers up to 20 keywords, two answers a week and up to two new threads a month.
How much do Reddit SEO services cost?
Ours costs $1,900 a month, month-to-month, with no minimum term. If you already run Reddit marketing with us, Reddit SEO is included in the Programme ($3,400) and Category ($5,000) plans.
Does Reddit help SEO?
Yes, but through the thread, not the link. A thread that ranks for your keyword puts your brand on Google's first page and in the AI Overview built from it; a link from Reddit to your site is best counted as referral traffic.
How do Reddit threads rank on Google?
Through the same ranking systems as any page, plus a "Discussions and forums" block that Google added in September 2022, where Reddit appears in 87.8% of US cases. Google also has real-time access to Reddit content under a 2024 data deal.
How long does Reddit SEO take?
Your first answers go live 14–20 days after the start, in threads that already sit on Google's first page. First signals show in 4–8 weeks; new threads take months to rank, and not every one will.
Can you remove a negative Reddit thread from Google?
No one can promise that. We write a plan for each negative thread: fix what is true, answer what is out of date, make sure a better answer exists, and report what breaks Reddit's rules to its moderators.
Do you answer existing threads or start new ones?
Both, with existing threads first: two answers a week in threads that already rank, and up to two new threads a month where buyers ask a question that no ranking thread answers well.
Will Reddit SEO get us into Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT?
AI Overviews are where Reddit threads matter: across eight categories we track, about one AI Overview in five cites a Reddit thread. ChatGPT cited Reddit threads in about 1% of answers in those categories, so Reddit SEO is not the lever for ChatGPT.
Reddit threads outrank our website for our own keywords. What can we do?
Get into the threads instead of fighting them: they rank because the searcher wants opinions. Answer where the thread is still open, publish what the threads keep asking for on your own page, and start a better thread where none exists.
Does Reddit SEO work for local businesses?
Yes, where "best [service] in [city]" searches show city-subreddit threads, but those communities often ban self-promotion, so the work is mostly finding the threads that rank, seeing who gets recommended and keeping your public details current.
Can we link to our website from Reddit?
Only where a community's rules allow it, and a link dropped into many threads is treated as spam. Most answers that hold up carry no link at all; the value is the mention in a thread that ranks.
